Gandhinagar (Gujarat), August 30: The Indian Army has continued its flood relief operations in Gujarat, focusing on the most severely impacted areas and providing essential Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR). The response follows a request from the Gujarat government for military aid.
Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant waterlogging in Bhuj and other regions. In response, six Army columns have been deployed to assist with rescue and relief efforts throughout the state, as flood conditions persist.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted further heavy rainfall in various districts, including Kachchh, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, and Porbandar, with moderate thunderstorms and strong winds expected. Other districts like Surendranagar, Rajkot, and Junagadh are anticipated to experience moderate rainfall and thunderstorms.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center to review preparedness and issued directives for evacuations to protect residents. The ongoing heavy rains have resulted in widespread flooding and displacement of residents in the affected areas.
