Ranchi (Jharkhand), August 29: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren announced his decision to join the BJP, stating that his primary goal is to safeguard tribal interests.
In a statement ahead of his official induction on Friday, Soren mentioned, "After careful consideration, I have decided to join the BJP. My focus will be on protecting the rights and existence of tribals, whose population is dwindling. I will raise my voice on their behalf and undertake any responsibilities assigned to me by the party."
The BJP has arranged for a smooth induction process, with the Principal Private Secretary to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma requesting security and logistical preparations for Sarma's visit to Jharkhand on August 30, coinciding with Soren's BJP joining.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma is scheduled to arrive at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi at 10 am on August 30.
Soren has pledged to prioritize tribal development and counteract perceived threats from Bangladeshi infiltration. He emphasized his commitment to the state's progress and his readiness to undertake any role within the BJP.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed Soren's decision to join the BJP in a post on social media.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren responded, indicating that the state’s citizens would judge any shortcomings.
Independent MP Pappu Yadav criticized Soren’s move, suggesting it would undermine Hemant Soren's leadership. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit accused the BJP of exploiting ambitious figures from rival parties.
