Kurukshetra (Haryana) [India], October 5: BJP MP from Kurukshetra, Naveen Jindal, cast his vote in the Haryana Assembly elections on Saturday and expressed confidence in the party's victory, stating that the people of the state would bless the BJP, allowing it to form the government once again.
After voting, Naveen Jindal remarked, "There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. We are delighted to see them casting their votes today, and I am confident that the brave and aware citizens of Haryana will support the BJP. Haryana will bless the BJP, and Nayab Singh Saini will become Chief Minister again."
Arriving at the polling station on horseback, Jindal explained, "I came here riding on a horse as it is considered auspicious. My mother, Savitri Jindal, who is contesting from Hisar, aims to accomplish a lot for Hisar. The people of Hisar will decide who they want as their representative."
When asked about the Chief Minister candidate for Haryana, Jindal stated, "He (Anil Vij) is also a very prominent leader in our party, and time will reveal who becomes the Chief Minister. If a significant leader has an opinion, he has the right to express it."
Voting for 90 assembly seats in Haryana commenced on Saturday, with a voter turnout of 9.53 percent reported by the Election Commission of India by 9 AM.
According to the data from the ECI, Jind recorded the highest polling percentage at 12.71 percent, followed by Palwal at 12.45 percent, Ambala at 11.87 percent, Fatehabad at 11.81 percent, and Mahendragarh at 11.51 percent by 9 AM.
Faridabad recorded an 8.82 percent turnout, while Gurgaon had 6.10 percent, Hisar 8.49 percent, and Jhajjar 8.43 percent turnout by 9 AM.
Shortly after casting his vote, Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched a vigorous attack on the Congress, accusing it of spreading falsehoods and claiming that its previous corruption led to unemployment.
He asserted that under BJP leadership, employment opportunities have grown, particularly in Haryana.
Manohar Lal Khattar served as Haryana's Chief Minister for around 9.5 years before being succeeded by Nayab Singh Saini in March this year. The BJP is contesting the elections under Khattar's leadership, with Saini running from the Ladwa constituency.
This election is crucial as the BJP seeks a third consecutive term in power, while the Congress party aims to regain control amid anti-incumbency sentiments and issues stemming from farmer and wrestler protests.
The primary competing parties in Haryana include the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and a pre-poll alliance between the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP).
Voting in Haryana is scheduled from 7 AM to 6 PM. A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in all 90 assembly constituencies, with 20,632 polling booths established for the voting process.
The results for the Haryana Assembly elections will be announced alongside those for Jammu and Kashmir on October 8. In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP won 40 of the 90 seats and formed a coalition government with the JJP, which secured 10 seats, while the Congress obtained 31 seats. However, the JJP later exited the coalition.
